What you need
- A vial of peptide (lyophilised powder)
- Bacteriostatic water (BAC water)
- Sterile syringes
- Alcohol wipes
Step by step
- Prepare: let the peptide vial reach room temperature (about 15–20 minutes).
- Disinfect: wipe the rubber stopper of both the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol wipe and let it dry completely (at least 30 seconds).
- Draw the water: draw the required volume of bacteriostatic water, typically 1–2 ml, avoiding air bubbles.
- Add the water: insert the needle through the centre of the stopper and let the water run slowly down the inside wall of the vial, not directly onto the powder.
- Let it dissolve: leave the vial to stand; the powder dissolves on its own within a few minutes. Swirl gently if needed.
- Check: the solution should be clear and colourless. Discard it if it is cloudy or contains particles.
Never shake
Peptides are fragile molecules. Shaking can break down their structure. Swirl gently instead.
Concentration per vial
The concentration depends only on how much bacteriostatic water you add.
| Vial | BAC water | Concentration |
|---|---|---|
| Retatrutide 10 mg | 1 ml | 10 mg/ml |
| Retatrutide 10 mg | 2 ml | 5 mg/ml |
| Retatrutide 10 mg | 3 ml | about 3.33 mg/ml |
| Tirzepatide 20 mg | 1 ml | 20 mg/ml |
| Tirzepatide 20 mg | 2 ml | 10 mg/ml |
More water gives a more dilute solution, which makes small volumes easier to measure accurately in the lab.
Storage after reconstitution
- Always in a fridge at 2–8 °C, away from light
- Never freeze a reconstituted solution
